Description	:	Eugene Maynard Greuel was born to parents William John and Clara Agnes Amelia (Krueger) Greuel on May 25, 1917, in Leonard, North Dakota. On September 5, 1941 Eugene married Kathleen Mary Wiederholt at St. Aloysius Catholic Church Rectory in Lisbon, North Dakota. Eugene was an enrollee in the CCC's from 1934-1938 at Camp Boyes, Montana. He repaired bridges and roads, thinned trees and cut shrubs as part of fire prevention, and built small earthen dams. Read More	Eugene Maynard Greuel was born to parents William John and Clara Agnes Amelia (Krueger) Greuel on May 25, 1917, in Leonard, North Dakota. On September 5, 1941 Eugene married Kathleen Mary Wiederholt at St. Aloysius Catholic Church Rectory in Lisbon, North Dakota. Eugene was an enrollee in the CCC's from 1934-1938 at Camp Boyes, Montana. He repaired bridges and roads, thinned trees and cut shrubs as part of fire prevention, and built small earthen dams. In 1942 Eugene and Kathleen moved to Richmond, California where he worked in the shipyards until 1944. Eugene was a World War II Veteran. He was with the 77th Division, 302nd Engineer Combat Battalion. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Operations from 1944-1946. In 1952 Eugene and Kathleen sold their home in San Pablo and moved to Anderson, California. He was a millwright, pipe fitter, and later a carpenter for Kimberly-Clark Corporation until his retirement in 1982. Eugene enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, woodworking, putting together puzzles, and telling stories to his grandsons. Eugene died on Monday, April 13, 1992, after a 5 year battle with cancer. Services for Eugene, age 74, will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 16, 1992 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anderson. The Reverend Father Michael Kiernan of the church, the 20th District Honor Guard and Anderson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9650 will officiate. Preceded him in death was his parents and his brother Ervin "Tom" Greuel. Survivors are his wife Kathleen of 50 years, a son, and two grandsons. Interment will be at Anderson District Cemetery.
