Eugene was born on October 6, 1932 in Cherokee, IA to Leo Eugene and Alice Mae (Haley) Morton. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1951 and later in life earned an associate’s degree from WITT. He served his country in US Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Joann Meister in 1956. Eugene was in the grocer retail business and retired from working as a Supervisor of Environmental Services for both the Marion Health Care Center and Surgery Center. In Eugene’s free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing. Later in life he enjoyed passing the time playing his synthesizer keyboard. Above all the joys in his life, spending time with his family was always his greatest joy. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Sioux City. He is survived by his wife Joann Morton; daughter Jean Ann Fink; sons Dan (Melody) Morton and Bill Morton; 6 grandchildren Michael, Shane, Stacey, Derek, Kaylee and Jacob and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and a son-in-law.
