BORN NEAR DUBUQUE Eugenia Laude Howie was born near Dubuque, March 25, 1870, the daughter of James and Eugenia Valley Laude. She was one of 11 children. She moved with her parents to Castle Grove and attended the schools of that township. She was married March 13,1888, to James Howie in the home of her parents and lived in Castle Grove until they moved to Monticello in 1936. Mr. Howie preceded his wife in death in 1937 as did a son, Robert in 1934. MANY SURVIVORS Survivors include two daughters, Lula, Mrs. M. J. Cass of Monticello and Fern, Mrs. Norman Bringard of Detroit, Mich.; two sons, Olin R. Howie and Lynn Howie, both of Montice llo. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; three brothers, Al Laude of Monticello, Peter Laude of Iowa City and Fred Laude of Greenfield; two sisters, Lula Laude and Mrs. Lottie Rivenburg, both of Greenfield. The deceased was a member of the Schreiner chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Monticello, and a charter member of the Peniel Presbylerian church in Castle Grove.
