Description	:	My Mom was the oldest of six children born to Estie & Mary Hobbs. She was born in Rose Hill, Lee County, VA, in a rented white house next to a swinging bridge. Afterwards they moved to an area nearby known as the Cedars. As a young child she carried water from a nearby cave. When she was about five or six the family moved to Highland, MD. She attended Sunday School in a small church there and learned the scriptures. In 1944 her mother and father bought a small farm in Dayton. ... Read More	My Mom was the oldest of six children born to Estie & Mary Hobbs. She was born in Rose Hill, Lee County, VA, in a rented white house next to a swinging bridge. Afterwards they moved to an area nearby known as the Cedars. As a young child she carried water from a nearby cave. When she was about five or six the family moved to Highland, MD. She attended Sunday School in a small church there and learned the scriptures. In 1944 her mother and father bought a small farm in Dayton. A minister held revival services and out of this beginning work, the Dayton Foursquare Church took birth. Eula accepted Jesus as her saviour and was baptized in a creek. She met and married Dick Simpson, and they were faithful attenders and were active in the work there. She taught Sunday School and sang. She is remembered for singing "How Great Thou Art." She was a strong person, strong-willed, a hard worker. She was a story-teller, remembering every detail, and never tiring of telling the same stories over and over. She was an excellent cook and is remembered for her Sunday dinners and other special meals. They had a garden and she canned, and dinners always included many of the vegetables from the garden. Her green beans, lima beans, canned corn, and her home-made pies were her specialties. She was baking pies the Saturday before she passed away. She was the hub of the family. She kept in touch with everyone, remembering every one on their birthdays and anniversaries. She called every one on the morning of their birthday and sang happy birthday to them, and if she didn't reach you, she would leave it on your recorder. Every one confided in her. She had a deep and abiding faith. In the early history of the church in Dayton, she invited her school friend Betty to church. Betty Wigfield told Linda that she was responsible for her entire family getting saved as a result of this invitation. She and Dick were faithful prayers...praying for their family and others. We often prayed as a family...in a circle. We often saw God's guidance and His faithfulness, and He led them to Hagerstown where she had two years in her beautiful home. She was a faithful wife, caring for her husband until her last breath. She was a faithful mother and grandmother and was extremely giving to all of them. On Tuesday, the angels came and took her home. She looked peaceful in death. She left this temporary life and went to her real home and to be with her Savior and Lord. She will be tremendously missed, but we are comforted knowing where she is, and how much she loved each one of us. We will see her again. This is our hope.
