When but a small boy he and his parents moved to Peterson, Indiana, where he grew into young manhood. At the age of 21, on August 20, 1861, he enlisted in the Federal army. Long *********** David Brallier, son of Daniel and Catherine Brallier, was born in Richland county, Ohio, April 19, 1841. When but a small boy he and his parents moved to Peterson, Indiana, where he grew into young manhood. At the age of 21, on August 20, 1861, he enlisted in the Federal army. He served for nearly three years and was discharged at Chattanooga December 31, 1863, only to reenlist January 1, 1864. He loyally served his country until the close of the war, when he was honorably discharged at Nashville, September 14, 1865. He belonged to Company B, 44th Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Soon after the close of the war Mr. Brallier emigrated West and settled on a farm in Benton county, Iowa, where he was united in marriage to Sarah J. Long on December 26, 1872. In August 1862 they moved to Clay county, Iowa, and settled on a farm three miles southeast of Greenville, Iowa, where they resided until 1918, when they moved to the present home in Greenville. To this union were born ten children, Dora Mills of Greenville; Nora Johnson of Hayward, Minn.; George of Curlew, Ia.; Arthur of Sterling, Colorado; Elsie Fisher of Mabton, Washington; Della Hebberg of Spencer, Ia.; Bertha Wilis of Worchester, Massachusetts; Mamie of Greenville and Merle of Glasgow, Missouri. A daughter Miss Eva preceded her father in death. *********** Mrs. Sarah Brallier of Greenville, 80 years of age who has resided in Clay county more than fifty years, died Wednesday afternoon, May 25, at 1:50 o'clock at her home. Death was caused by heart trouble. Mrs. Brallier had been failing in health all winter and was bedfast one week before her death. She was born in Ohio March 1, 1852, where she lived until five years of age, when the family migrated to Iowa in a covered wagon and settled ear Shellsburg on a farm. Four years ago, her husband David Brallier passed away. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Delia Hagberg of Spencer, Mrs. Elsie Fisher of Maiden, Washington, Mrs. Nora Johnson of Hayward, Minnesota, Mrs, Dora Mills of Greenville, and Miss Mamie Brallier who made her home with her mother; three sons, Arthur of Sterling, Colorado, George of Laurens, and Merle of Mallard; 35 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her death two brothers and two sisters. Two daughters preceded her in death.
