In the 1900 census Eva 11 years old, and was living with her parents in Clarksville, Butler, Iowa. Her father was a Veterinarian Surgeon. On May 18, 1906 Eva became the bride of James "Jim" Leon Lahmon. From this union the following children were born: Leon Vivian Lahmon 1909 – 1990; Lyle V. Lahmon 1911 – 1970;Alonzo "Lonnie" Franklin Lahmon 1913 – 1996; Lillian Iola Lahmon 1914 – 1987; Leslie Vernon Lahmon 1916 – 1969; Leonard William Lahmon 1918 – 2004; Leo L. Lahmon 1920 – 1935; Lewis Charles Lahmon 1922 – 2007; Leola N. Lahmon 1924 – 1994 znd Mary "Loretta" Loretta Lahmon 1926. By 1920 Jim and Eva had relocated in Coldwater, Butler, Iowa, and he was Renting a home and farm. When the 1930 census was taken the nation was in the midst of the Great Depression, and people literally starved. This was evident in the Lahmon family. They were living on Renond Street in a rented house that cost them $10.00 a month, in Shell Rock, Butler, Iowa. Three adult men in the family of eleven, were living at home and none of them could find work. The 1940 census found Eva, a divorced women, as head of her family. Records are not available as to where Jim was. She was working as a maid. Two of the older boys had found work. The house they rented was now down to $6.00 a month. In the newspaper the Waterloo Daily Courier in Waterloo, Iowa from 22 Jul 1949 to 19 Dec 1949 under the PROCEEDINGS OF THE COUNTY BOARD (poor fund) Alonzo Franklin Lahmon and his mother Eva Eltella Lahmon received various amounts of money. There are no farther documentation on Eva until her death. The Social Security Index reports that she died on Feb, 28, 1975 in Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, Iowa.
