Description	:	James "Jim" Leon Lahmon was the son of Jacob L Lahmon 1850 – 1918 and Rebecca Elizabeth Bair 1849 – 1926. His siblings were: Sylvester Layma 1868; Charles Lahmon 1870; William Layman 1872; Hanah Layman 1874; Margarite Layman 1878 and Emily Layman 1880. The 1900 census found Jim living in Gillett Grove, Clay, Iowa, at the home of Herman Hoberg as a servant. Lahmon 1920 – 1935; Lewis Charles Lahmon 1922 – 2007; Leola N. Lahmon 1924 – 1994 znd Mary "Loretta" Loretta Lahmon 1926. In 1915, the Iowa State census revealed that Jim was living in Clarksville, Butler, Iowa, working as a teamster, and had earned $600.00 wages the proceeding year. By 1920 Jim and Eva had relocated in Coldwater, Butler, Iowa, and he was Renting a home and farm. When the 1930 census was taken the nation was in the midst of the Great Depression, and people literally starved. This was evident in the Lahmon family. They were living on Renond Street in a rented house that cost them $10.00 a month, in Shell Rock, Butler, Iowa. Three adult men in the family of eleven, were living at home and none of them could find work. Jim could not be found in the 1940 census, but Eva was found as divorced, and the head of her family. Jim's gravestone was found in the Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville. Butler County,Iowa, Plot: C 9, gives evidence that he died Jan 9, 1950. No record has been found to reveal the cause of his demise.
