Description	:	Eva L. Johnston passed away Tuesday, July 9, 1963, at the Nuckolls County Nursing home in Nelson, Nebraska. Eva Lena was born to Rev. J.P. and Naomi McVey March 9, 1876 in Arbela, Missouri. She was the second of six children. Her husband, 2 sons, both parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters preceded her in death. Johnston passed away Tuesday, July 9, 1963, at the Nuckolls County Nursing home in Nelson, Nebraska. Eva Lena was born to Rev. J.P. and Naomi McVey March 9, 1876 in Arbela, Missouri. She was the second of six children. Her husband, 2 sons, both parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters preceded her in death. The family moved from Missouri to Nebraska when she was a small child. After living in several Nebrasks communities, the family moved to Oak in the early 1890's where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Charles W. Johnston on September 25, 1895. One daughter and seven sons were born to this union. In the spring of 1896 they moved to a farm near Oak where all of her children were born. After the death of her husband she moved to the town of Oak in 1942. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Oak since childhood. She was active in the Kings Daughters and past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She was also active in other community activities. She is survivied by one daughter, Vivian Persinger of San Diego, Calif., five sons: Tyndall of Billings, Montana, Clayton and Lynn of Oak, Nebraska, Woodrow of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Basil of Lincoln, Nebraska. She also leave to mourn nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, three nephews, three nieces, one brother Jesse McVey of Lincoln, Nebraksa, and one sister, Goldie Emery of Valentine, Nebraska, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, July 12, 1963, at the first (sic) Methodist Church of Oak, Nebraska with the Revarend (sic) Clay O'Dell officiating. A qaurtet consisting of Mrs. Eugene Schott, Mrs. Rex Sykes, Mr. James Hanson, Mrs. Harold Runge sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In The Garden," Mrs. John Scroggin was the pianist. The Pallbearers were Messrs Gerald Pearson, Harry Snyder, Jack Montgomery, LaVern Hutchinson, Leonard Scroggin, Art Swantstrom. Burial was in the Edgar Cemetery.
