Description	:	Charles W. Johnston, son of John Q. and Mary Elizabeth Johnston, was born in Saline County, Nebraska, November 16, 1871, and died at his home near Oak, Nebraska, June 25, 1938, at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 9 days. In 1875 he moved with his parents to a farm near Oak in Nuckolls county (sic). On September 25, 1895, he married Miss Eva McVey. The following spring they moved to the farm which has since been their home. To this union eight children were born. Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife, one daughter, Vivian Persinger... Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife, one daughter, Vivian Persinger of San Bernardino, California, six sons, Tyndall of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Ray and Woodrow of Lincoln, Clayton and Lynn of Oak, and Basil at home; two brothers, Dee and John, two sisters Gertrude Lillidoll, Sutton, Nebr., and May Erickson, Elizabeth, Colo.; and six grand children of Oak. Mr. Johnston was a good citizen, interested in the welfare of his community. He was a member of Tyrian Lodge 243 A.F. and A.M. of Oak. The funeral services were held in the M.E. church at Oak Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. V.R. Daniels officiating. The pallbearers were Gene Follmer, Harry Moore, John Meyer, Walter Ren, John Scroggin, Virgil Mercier. Interment was made in the Edgar cemetery.
