ARTHUR H. WHERRY Mrs. Arthur H. Wherry,long-time resident of Pawnee City passed away March 11 in Albert Lea, Minn., where she had spent the past five months in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lowell C. Barr. Eva Mae Comstock Wherry, the daughter of Abel Comstock and Margaret Belle Ackelson, was born July 24, 1875, at Cascade, Ia. In her youth she, with her family moved to Orchard, Nebr. Later she lived with her sister, Jessie Comstock Wherry in Pawnee City where she was graduated from high school after which she attended the University of Nebraska. In 1899 she was united in marriage to Arthur H. Wherry, who preceded her in death in 1949. Pawnee City has been her home until the day of her death, March 11, 1966. She is survived by her two children, Mrs. Lowell C. Barr, Albert Lea, Minn., and Dr. Ronald C. Wherry, Pekin, Ill., five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She had been active in various civic and church organizations. She was a member of the United Presbyterian church; a member and past-president of the P.E.O. Sisterhood; a member of the Garden club; the Conservation club; and the former Tuesday club. For many years she taught a Bible class for young women, ad was a member of the Women's Association of the Presbyterian Church. A memorial service was conducted in the United Presbyterian church of Albert Lea, Minn., on Saturday, March 32. On Monday, March 14, funeral services were conducted at the United Presbyterian church in Pawnee City, with officiating ministers, Rev. Warren Kunkel and Dr. Roderic Lee Smith of Washington, D.C., a nephew of Mrs. Wherry. Music was provided by the United Presbyterian church choir under the direction of Mrs. John Wherry. Interment was in the Pawnee City cemetery.
