Everything that human skill and loving hands could do was done to save her life, but to no avail. Her death is a peculiarly sad one, leaving as she does an infant son, born just a short time before her death. Her death is a peculiarly sad one, leaving as she does an infant son, born just a short time before her death. Mrs McAlpin enjoyed a wide circle of friends and was universally loved and esteemed by all who knew her. She will be sincerely mourned within, as well as without, her immediate family. Eva Lena Combs, daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Combs, was born near New Market Apr 28, 1897, and passed away at her home southeast of New Market Feb 19, 1922, aged 24 years, 10 months and 21 days. She was married to Dennis McAlpin Feb 10, 1915. To this union were born two sons, Gerald, aged 5 years, and an infant son. Her illness was of a short duration, and her death came as a shock to her many friends and relatives. Lena, as she was known by every body, was a kind hearted, loving wife and mother. It can be truly said that no task was too great for her to undertake for her family. She would always look on the bright side and meet everyone with a smile, a smile that will be impressed upon the memory of her relatives and friends for ever. She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, two children, father, mother, four brothers, three sisters, an aged grandfather, a host of relatives and a large circle of friends, for by her pleasant disposition she won the respect of all. The brothers are Harry, Dewey, Johnnie and Glen. The sisters are Pearl and Velma and Mrs Arnold Bashor, all of New Market. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the M.E. church conducted by Rev Roy Snodgrass of Chilicothe, Mo, and interment was in Memory cemetery. The service was attended by a great concourse of people, a lving testimonial to the high regard in which deceased was held.
