Description	:	OBIT: Eva Isabel Riggs, daughter of Andrew W. and Martha (Spilman) Riggs, was born in Booneville, Warrick County, Indiana, September 11, 1851. In her early infancy the family removed to Salem, Iowa, later coming to Eddyville in 1855. She was a descendant of S. Spilman, a German crusader, who went to England in 839. Her ancestors were among the early settlers of Massachusetts and Connecticut. Read More	OBIT: Eva Isabel Riggs, daughter of Andrew W. and Martha (Spilman) Riggs, was born in Booneville, Warrick County, Indiana, September 11, 1851. In her early infancy the family removed to Salem, Iowa, later coming to Eddyville in 1855. She was a descendant of S. Spilman, a German crusader, who went to England in 839. Her ancestors were among the early settlers of Massachusetts and Connecticut. On October 15, 1873, she was united in marriage to Andrew Baker and they resided on what is now the Fedro farm near old Pekay. In 1903 they removed to Oskaloosa which remained her home until the time of her death. She united with the local Congregational church January 5, 1866. All who where members of the church at that time have now passed away. Her father for many years was superintendent of the Congregational Sunday School. She passed away at the Mahaska hospital in Oskaloosa August 15, 1924, at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 4 days. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Andrew Baker of Oskaloosa, one sister Mrs. Cora Meredith of O'Neal, Nebraska, and one brother George D. Riggs of Des Moines. Four brother and one sister preceded her in death. The funeral was held from the local Congregational church Sunday afternoon, the pastor Rev. Albert S. Kilbourn, officiating.
