Description	:	PLACENTIA, Calif. -- Vangie died June 12, 2013 at age 88 of natural causes in Placentia, Calif. Born March 30, 1921, in East Vassaboro, Maine, to Mr. and Mrs. Albert La Croix, she was one of 21 children in a Catholic French Canadian family. When the depression hit, they lost their farm and took the remaining 15 children and moved to Waterville and bought a large white rooming house on College Avenue and named it La Croix's Rooming House. Read More	PLACENTIA, Calif. -- Vangie died June 12, 2013 at age 88 of natural causes in Placentia, Calif. Born March 30, 1921, in East Vassaboro, Maine, to Mr. and Mrs. Albert La Croix, she was one of 21 children in a Catholic French Canadian family. When the depression hit, they lost their farm and took the remaining 15 children and moved to Waterville and bought a large white rooming house on College Avenue and named it La Croix's Rooming House. The family lived in one part and they rented out rooms in the other part. Vangie went to St. Francis Catholic School until she was 16 when she quit school and went to work at Lockwood & Dutches (cotton mill). She later went to work at The Hathaway. She met Lucien Huard of Winslow and after he returned from serving in World War II, they were married. They used to go to the American Legion and win jitterbug dance contests. In 1955 they moved to California, and through the years they helped other relatives when they moved to California. Vangie was proceeded in death by her parents; and 17 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Lucien Huard, her daughter, Carol Huard Little, and her son, Lawrence Huard, all of California; three grandchildren, Bryan, Lennette and Jennifer; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Gertrude Clements La Croix; and brother Louis La Croix. No services are being held per her wish. Her body was donated to Science Care. She will always be loved and remembered as a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
