October 12, 2006 - Carroll Daily Times Herald - Evelyn Agnes Goecke, 93, of Carlsbad, Calif., died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006. Mass of the Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with the Rev. James McCormick officiating. Lector will be Steve Biby. Casket bearers will be Larry Schwenk, Doug Grimsman, Scott Schulte, Bob Schulte, Don Langenfeld, Alan Langenfeld and Dale Sporrer. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Visitation will resume at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. A daughter of Herman Henry and Maude Catherine (Gassman) Schulte, she was born July 5, 1913, at Hurley, S.D. She attended Wynot High School in Wynot, Neb. graduating in 1931. She later graduated from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., with a Nebraska teaching certificate. On July 25, 1938, she married Morris Franklin Goecke at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. Mrs. Goecke was an elementary school teacher at Grant #5 School in Pleasant alley and Maple Grove Elementary northeast of Carroll. She also worked in dormitory accounting at San Diego State University. Mrs. Goecke was a member of Ascension Parish in Tierrasanta, Calif., and a member of the Golden Circle. She enjoyed sewing and baking. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Biby and her husband Stephen of Oceanside, Calif.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers: Gerald Schulte of Marshalltown, and Cyril Schulte and his wife, Hilda, of Carroll; and sisters: Grace Langenfeld and her husband, Omer, of Carroll and Gloria Grimsman and her husband, John, of Carroll. Mrs. Goecke is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1965; a son, Ronald Goecke in 1992; and a daughter, Cheryl McNally in 2000.
