The daughter of Norwegian Immigrant Mother, Anna Skarsam Johnson and Swedish Immigrant Father, Gustav Adolph Johnson was born November 16, 1916 in Yankton County, Viborg, SD. She attended Lone Star school in rural Viborg, SD. She was baptized at the Elm Lutheran Church on December 10, 1916 and confirmed at Elm Lutheran. She was united in marriage to George E. Styles on October 31, 1937 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Yankton, SD. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1987. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and V.F.W. Auxiliary in Vermillion. She spent lots of time in her youth helping out on the family farm. After her marriage, she was a homemaker. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Peterson, of Vermillion, SD, Kay Styles of Wakonda, SD, and Tonya Haukaas, of New London, MO; her son, Mark Styles, of Vermillion; grandchildren, Scott Peterson and Amy Fedoruk, of Aberdeen, SD, Kevin and Christy Peterson of Menonomie, WI, DeAnn and David DeJean of Fremont, Nebr., Dennis J. Peterson, of IA, Greg Styles, of Vermillion, Amanda Haukaas, of Belle Fource, Ashley, Wyatt, and Tyler Haukaas, of New London, MO; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Nicholas DeJean, of Fremont, Nebr., Kaden and Cole Peterson, of Aberdeen, SD, Hunter and Olivia Haukaas of Belle Fource; several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George E. Styles; daughter, Sandra Kay Loupe; son, Dennis G. Styles; sisters, Myrtle Larsen, Bernice Delaney, and half sisters, Ragna Swyer, Alice Harrington, Marie Hansen; two infant sisters; a brother, Arlo Johnson, and foster brother, Robert Terrior. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday, January 4, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion with Rev. Ed Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion.
