Description	:	Evelyn Lovaas-Washburn, 78, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Central Washington Hospital. She was born November 13, 1925 in Pateros, Washington to early Pateros pioneers, George and Bertha Gebbers. She was raised and educated in Pateros. After High School, she briefly moved to California before returning to her hometown of Pateros where she married Harold C.O. Lovaas. She was born November 13, 1925 in Pateros, Washington to early Pateros pioneers, George and Bertha Gebbers. She was raised and educated in Pateros. After High School, she briefly moved to California before returning to her hometown of Pateros where she married Harold C.O. Lovaas. The two made a life together in Pateros where they raised two children, James Lovaas and Jeanette Lovaas-Greedy. The Lovaas' worked together and made their home on the family's orchard. Evelyn worked at Methow Pateros Growers and then as a secretary in the local insurance office. After Harold's death in 1985 she married Ernest Washburn in 1987 and they made their home on the Bridgeport Bar. The two enjoyed traveling together in their motorhome with their dog, Benji. Evelyn and Ernie were later moved to Highline Convalescent Center in East Wenatchee due to poor health. Evelyn was a member of the Pateros Methodist Church starting on the cradle roll in 1925, later teaching Sunday school for several years. She was an active member of the Rebecca's Lodge for many years. She will be remembered for her kind and generous personality and loving heart. Her home and kitchen were always open to her friends and family. Survivors include her son, James Lovaas of Bridgeport; daughter, Jeanette Lovaas-Greedy of East Wenatchee; granddaughter, Deanna (Ace) Bollinger of East Wenatchee; grandsons, Brian (Monica) Greedy of East Wenatchee, James M. Lovaas Jr. of Omak, and Terry Tisdale-Lovaas of Brewster; and six much loved great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roy Gebbers; four sisters, Florence Dixon, Ruth Grisson, Bertie McLain and Hester Gebbers; and husbands, Harold Lovaas and Ernest Washburn. She was the last surviving member of the pioneering George Gebbers family. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2004 at the Pateros Methodist Church. Committal service and interment will follow at the Pateros Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday. Arrangements are by Barnes Funeral Home of Brewster. Donations may be made to the Central Washington Hospital Dialysis Center.
