Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, Litchville. She died Monday, June 1, 1998, at Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. Evelyn Rosella Storhoff was born January 31, 1919 in Eastedge, North Dakota, the daughter of Adolph and Tena (Rodlin) Storhoff. She attended school in Eastedge and was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Nome, ND. Evelyn married Alfred B. Opdahl June 12, 1940 in Chicago, IL. They moved to Litchville in 1942 where they farmed for many years until their retirement. Evelyn was a member of First Lutheran Church, Litchville, the ELCW where she served as Vice President, Treasurer and was on the Stewardship Board. She taught Sunday School, was a Sunday School Superintendent, and was active as a First Lutheran Church quilter for many years. From 1988 until 1990 she accompanied Pastor Herberg to the LaMoure Nursing Home, where she played piano for the services. Mrs. Opdahl is survived by her husband, Alfred; one son, Alfred Jan (Linda) Opdahl, West Fargo, ND; two daughters, Karen (Kenneth) Gusaas and Cynthia (Lee) Herberg, both of Litchville; seven grandsons: Todd and Russ Opdahl, Jason,Chad and Nathan Gusaas; Jamey and Brett Stephenson; and one granddaughter, Mikaela Herberg. She is also survived by six brothers, Edgar and Gerhard Storhoff, Kathryn, ND; Edmund (Phyllis) Storhoff, Nome, ND; Charles (Bev) Storhoff. Puyallup, WA; Howard (Helen) Storhoff, Seattle, WA; and Richard (Karen) Storhoff, Moohead, MN; two sisters, Priscilla McGregor, Las Vegas, NV and Valborg Hoff, Bismarck, ND. Evelyn was preceded in death by her 2½ year old daughter, Connie Jean; her sister, Ruth Abrahamsen and her parents. Funeral arrangements are by Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, ND. Published in The Litchville Bulletin, Litchville, ND, June 1998.
