John Everett Cook, son of Ed and Maud Peck Cook, was born on the family farm in Nance County on March 26, 1908. He departed from this life on February 14, 1989 at St. Paul, Nebraska at the age of 80 years. Everett received his education in rural schools in Nance County and grew to manhood on the family farm. On January 14, 1929, Everett was united in marriage to Evelyn Grossart at Grand Island. The couple first made their home on a farm east of Wolbach and later in 1932 the couple moved into Wolbach. Everett and Evelyn were employed by the Wolbach High School in custodian maintenance. In 1942, the couple moved to Grand Island where they operated a rooming house and Everett was employed at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant. Later the couple moved back to a farm east of Wolbach where they farmed until their retirement in 1971. The couple then moved into their new home in Wolbach. Everett then did local carpentering, house building and painting with Austin Berney. He also worked for O'Gorman's as a seasonal fertilizer driver. Evelyn passed away in April of 1986. Everett continued to make his home in Wolbach until the time of his death. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Wolbach. He is survived by his brother, Homer of Belgrade, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Evelyn and a sister, Lucille Kuntzelman.
