Read More	Funeral Services for Evon Richmond Thaxton, 93, of Florien, LA, were held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Cenchrea Church of the Nazarene in Florien, LA, Rev. Dan West officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Florien, LA. Evon Richmond Thaxton was born on September 08, 1919 in Robeline, LA. He passed away on Wednesday, April 03, 2013 at his residence in Florien, LA surrounded by family and friends. Paw Paw as he was known to many, was a devout Christian, having given his life to God as a young man. He helped build the Cenchrea Church of the Nazarene and was faithful in his attendance. He was a carpenter by trade building many houses in Sabine, Vernon and Caddo parishes. He was a poultry and cattle farmer. Paw Paw loved his cows and firmly believed those cows knew him (and only him)! The family enjoyed riding with him on "his motorized" mule as he looked over his land and cows. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernie Weldon Thaxton; parents, Charlie and Amora Stewart Thaxton; grandson, Jason Douglas Thaxton; brothers, Troy, Leon and Tommie and sisters, Ana Belle Cohen; Jewel Brown; Velma Weldon and Kathleen Hardy. He is survived by his four daughters and sons-in-law; four sons and daughters-in-law; four sisters and one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; twenty four grandchildren; sixty great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Corley, Dr. Chhabra, Cherish Keys Davis of Home Health, Cindy McLendon of Superior Hospice and most recently to his caregivers, Deborah Peterson, Beverly Cole, Brenda Nash and Sally Stephenson. Services were under Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, LA.
