Fannie D Stevents[sic] was born August 5, 1872 at Fort Ann, New York and died August 18, 1944 at the hospital in Holdrege. The Stevens family moved to Nebraska when she was five years old and she spent her girlhood and young womanhood in the vicinity of Ragan. She was educated in the public schools and also attended the Franklin Academy of Music. On May 2, 1894, she was united in marriage to Benjamin F Sloan. To this union three children were born, all of whom are living. The greater part of their married life was spent in this community. They moved to Ragan in 1934, where they have since resided. Last May they celebrated their Gold Wedding anniversary. While in her early teens, she joined the Congregational church and was active in church work, playing the organ for many years. In May, 1935, she joined the Christian Science church and kept her membership in the same until the time of her death. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin F Sloan of Ragan, her three children, Roger Sloan of Beaver City, Nebraska, Mrs Lula Dawson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Kenneth Sloan of Wichita, Kansas; and her sister, Miss Carrie Stevens who made her home with her for the past ten years. There are also ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends who will miss her.
