Read More	Fannie was born to Jan and Engel (Muller) Bultena. Fannie married George Fokken. George G., Mae, Alvina, Minnie, John, Floyd, Marvin and Anna were born to this union. Mrs. Fannie Fokken, one of the eldest residents of Lennox, passed peacefully into that eternal rest at her home at 7:40 Monday evening, August 17. She had been in ill health for a number of years and was confined to her bed the past four years. Sunday was her 93rd birthday and a number of relatives and friends came to her home to extend congratulations and best wishes. She was in good spirit and enjoyed visiting. However, Sunday night she suffered a setback and the following day her condition gradually grew worse until the end. She attained the age of 93 years and one day. Mrs. Fokken, nee Fannie Bultena, was born in Grundy county, Iowa on August 16, 1871, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jan Bultena, who filed on a claim in Grant township three miles southwest of Lennox in 1879. She was eight years of age when the family came to Dakota Territory. Here she grew to womanhood and attended rural school, and endured many of the hardships of pioneer days. On February 24, 1892 she was united in marriage to Gerhard Fokken in Lennox and for a couple years they made their home here. They then moved to Plymouth county, Iowa where they farmed for several years. In the spring of 1898 the family returned to South Dakota and located on a farm 10 miles northwest of Lennox. They became affiliated with Germantown Presbyterian church. They farmed in the Germantown locality for 36 years and then retired and went to make their home with a son, John , on a farm near Davis. They joined with Bethel Reformed church in 1947. There Mr. Fokken passed away on July 17, 1951. Mrs. Fokken continued to make her home with her son and a little over four years ago they took up their residence in Lennox and here she became affiliated with Ebenezer Presbyterian church. Her father passed away in 1918 and her mother in 1926. Aside from the parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter and two sons, and three brothers and sisters. Deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. May Hamon of Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. Frank Thorn (Minnie) of George, Iowa, and Mrs. August Plucker (Alvinia) of Castlewood; three sons, John of Lennox, Floyd of Brookings, and Marvin of Sioux Falls; 28 grand children, 58 great-grandchildren; and one brother Frank Bultena, of Sioux Falls.
