"Ferdie" Diglio Daley Sr. First Posted: 9/16/2007 LIMA Ferdinand J. "Ferdie" Diglio Daley Sr., 85, died at 7:40 p.m. Sept. 14, 2007, at Shawnee Manor at the Ridge, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Lima, to Louis C. and Rose Naples Diglio Daley Sr., who preceded him in death. On Feb. 20, 1946, he married Mary M. Tenwalde, who died July 29, 1986. Mr. Dailey was the owner and operator of Louie's Nite Club. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School and was a member of Charitable Italian American Organization, Knights of Columbus and various other organizations. He was proud of his Italian heritage. He loved his family and friends and patrons of Louie's Nite Club, his golfing buddy Lima Police Chief Frank Catlett, his dog Ginger and his 1929 black Model A Ford, which was used in Lima parades. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, having served with the 8th and 9th Air Corps and the B-17 bomber squadron in England. Survivors include four sons, Ferdinand J. "Ferdie" Daley Jr. and Joseph R. Daley, Ronald W. Daley and Donald G. Daley, all of Lima; four daughters, Antoinette (Dennis) Maier, of Lima, Cecilia (Frank) Guagenti, of Lima, Theresa (Richard) Contini, of Cincinnati, and Elizabeth (Joe) Watson, of Lima; two brothers, Louis C. (Rene) Daley and Thomas R. (Ruth) Daley, both of Lima; three sisters, Rosalyn (Ralph) Thorpe, of Traverse City, Mich., Janet (Anthony) DePalma, of Lima, and Patricia (Rollie) Kane, of Cincinnati; 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, David A. "Pete" Dailey; a great-grandson, Joshua D. Mortimer; a daughter-in-law, Kimberly C. Dailey; a brother, Alphonso J. (Lois) Daley; and four sisters, Clementine M. (Raymond) Musto, Antoinette R. (James) Sarno, Mary L. (Benedict) Treglia, and Ann Margaret (John) Stanovich. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. George Blasick will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, where military rites will be performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Central Catholic Scholarship Fund, St. Gerard Catholic Church, or St. Rita's Intensive Care Unit.
