Description	:	KEARNEY — Fern Elizabeth Anderson, 89, of Kearney died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Homestead Assisted Living. A celebration of life service was today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with the Revs. Patti and Steve Byrne officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery near Franklin. Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin was in charge of arrangements. She was born Jan. 29, 1926, the youngest child of Will and Emma (Herman) Schriner of rural Riverton. Read More	KEARNEY — Fern Elizabeth Anderson, 89, of Kearney died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Homestead Assisted Living. Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin was in charge of arrangements. She was born Jan. 29, 1926, the youngest child of Will and Emma (Herman) Schriner of rural Riverton. Fern attended grade school in rural Riverton and graduated from Franklin High School and attended business school in Grand Island. On Oct. 21, 1946, she married Leonard D. Anderson in Phillipsburg, Kan. To this union one son was born, Virgil H. Anderson. Fern and husband, Leonard, were baptized as adults on the same day as their son Virgil at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Ash Grove community. They lived on a farm in the Ash Grove community where they retired. Fern and Leonard also cared for their nephews and niece, Dennis Schriner, Sharon (Schriner) Johnson and Maynard Schriner, when their father, Fern’s brother Cecil Schriner, died of a heart attack in October 1955. Fern was a member of the Ladies Aide of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and Good Neighbors Extension Club in northern Franklin County. Fern was active at the Senior Center in Franklin. In April 2013, she moved to Homestead Homes in Kearney. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Anderson of Kearney; nephew, Maynard and wife Charlene of Hildreth; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Virgil Anderson; nephew, Dennis Schriner; niece, Sharon Johnson; and brothers, Cecil Schriner, Virgil Schriner and Wilbur Schriner.
