Description	:	BLANKE, FERN LUCILLE—Fern Lucille Blanke was born to George I. Cruse Sr. and Rose Marie Mau on January 30, 1910. She was born on a farm near Martland, in Fillmore county, Neb., and passed away on June 23, 1979, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 23 days Fern was born six miles southwest of Geneva on the farm that her grandfather, Charles Mau, homesteaded. Read More	BLANKE, FERN LUCILLE—Fern Lucille Blanke was born to George I. Cruse Sr. and Rose Marie Mau on January 30, 1910. She was born on a farm near Martland, in Fillmore county, Neb., and passed away on June 23, 1979, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 23 days Fern was born six miles southwest of Geneva on the farm that her grandfather, Charles Mau, homesteaded. She, along with her family, moved to Geneva in the fall of 1924. Her parents built and moved into the house in which she was still living at the time of her death. She graduated from Geneva high school with the class of 1928. Following graduation, she attended Hastings Business School and worked as secretary for S. E. Ralston and H. S. Page Agency. Later she and her husband were owners and operators of a Geneva tavern for 27 years. For the past 10 years she has been the secretary for the United Church of Christ. Fern was married to Henry H. Blanke Sr., of Geneva on June 5, 1930. To this union three children were born, all of whom are living. Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry Sr.; her mother and father, one sister, and four brothers. Surviving to mourn her passing are two sons; Henry Jr. Lincoln, and Jack, Omaha; one daughter, Janice Fassnacht, Sutton; one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren, Gregory and Annette of Lincoln; Timothy, Elizabeth and Phillip of Omaha; Daniel and his wife, Jamie, of Lincoln; Diane and Carolyn, Sutton. Also mourning her passing are her three brothers, Royal of Union City, Cal.; George Jr., of Geneva and Francis of Lincoln. To say that she loved the Geneva community, where she spent her entire life, would be an understatement. The center of her life was the love and concern for her family, for her church, and her many friends. Services for Mrs. Blanke were held on June 26, 1979, at 2 p.m., at the United Church of Christ. Musical tributes were sung by Bruce Blanchard. They were “Let the Lower Lights Be Burning” and “No Night There.” The congregation sang, “Work for the Night is Coming.” Lorri Waldron was the organist. Rev. Marshal Hinds had the sermon on “No Night There.” Pallbearers were John R. Bixby, Louis Issler, George Engle, Frank McPeck, John Jacobs and Hugh Wilkins. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Barbur, Frank Heinsch, Tom Ewalt, Harry Heller, Ben D. Fussell, Ralph Kinder and Melvin L. Ralston. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
