Oct 9, 1877 Birmingham, Iowa buried at Smith Cemetery Birmingham, Iowa (25 yrs 10 mo 12 days) married Mary (May) Barbara Redmon Feb 21, 1877, Missouri (marriage cert) Mary Barbara was referred to by her grandson's letters to me as May along with other family members, but on her marriage certificate it states, Mary B. Redmon. Mary (May) Barbara Redmon b. June 1, 1856 Van Buren Co., Iowa d. Sept 10, 1896 near Love Lake Atlanta, Macon Co., Missouri buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Missouri [also provided by Marcia: May Barbara was the daughter of Dr. Elijah Thomas Redmon and Eliza Jane White and granddaughter to Dr. Solomon Redmon and Rebecca Williams. Her father was a medical doctor who wrote a book on herbs and her grandfather was an herb specialist. Her brother, Z.F. Wharton taught school in Oak Grove, near Levi Anderson's home. He left for California to become a prominent lawyer in Sacramento, California. (From grandson Art Newmyer letter dated Nov 26,1977 to me)] Mary (May) Barbara remarried July 7, 1881 Fairfield, Iowa (from her grandson) to a Henry Clay Newmyer b. July 9, 1850 d. May 17, 1935 near Love Lake Atlanta, Macon Co., Missouri I believe he is also at Shiloh Cemetery" ------ Also, the following was provided regarding his daughter Festusina Bonnett Anderson and her upbringing: "Festusina was named after her father, Festus Bonnett, buried at Smith Cemetery .... He died several months before Festusina was born, and there was a court battle between his wife and his parents, Lewis and Evaline Amanda Bonnett on who would raise Festusina. The grandparents (Bonnetts) won. As you will see from their marriage to his death was only a few months. That is probably why the court battle. (My opinion)" ------ Notes: This memorial entry for Festus C Bonnett was first updated on January 5, 2010 by RKT with additional family information and notes.
