The following resolutions of respect were adopted by the Humboldt Grange upon the death of F. J. Chase: WHEREAS, By the death of our worthy brother, F. J. Chase, one for so long a time associated with us as a member of the order of Patrons of Husbandry, has been removed from us, as well as from a large circle of personal friends, it seems fit and proper that we especially should express our sense of the loss caused by his death and render a suitable tribute to his memory - not as a matter of cold formality, a routine task, simply decent, and in unison with a time-honored custom – but that we feel sincere in thus expressing our heartfelt sorrow in our common loss; therefore, be it. Resolved, That F. J. Chase, by his generous disposition was well fitted for the position, which for a year he occupied, as Steward of Humboldt Grange, a position which he had filled to the entire satisfaction of those with whom he was associated and with honor to himself, and by which he surrounded himself with a large circle of friends who regarded him with esteem and fraternal affection, and who will ever tenderly cherish his memory; and be it further Resolved, That to the relatives of the deceased, who a few weeks since enjoyed his presence in comparative health and vigor but to whom only at last his material form was left, we tender our sincere and heartfelt sympathy, hoping that the remembrance of the esteem in which he was held by those who knew him may in some degree alleviate the sense of irreparable loss occasioned by his death. ----- This article was from the Saturday, April 3, 1875 issue of The Junction City Weekly Union, Junction City, Geary County, KS. __________ Contributor: LLL (48075824)
