Dirrim, 88, died of a heart attack at his home in Hamilton at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, five hours after he was involved in a minor two-car traffic accident. Mr. Dirrim sustained no injuries in the minor mishap that occurred at the intersection of East Seventh and Union streets in Auburn. Police said the vehicles involved were a 1955 Chrysler driven by Jere M. Penland, 18, of Auburn and a 1950 Dodge operated by Mr. Dirrim. Damage to the Dodge was set at $10 with $65 damage to the Chrysler. The cars sideswiped when both drivers turned at the intersection. Mr. Dirrim, a retired farmer and Wabash railroad section foreman, had been under a doctor's car, it was reported. He was born July 19, 1873 in DeKalb County and had lived most of his life in the Hamilton community. He was the son of the late Robert Dirrim and Amanda Firestone Dirrim. Mr. and Mrs. Dirrim observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary on May 2, 1961. He was united in marriage to Alice Fisher on May 2, 1901 in Hamilton. Mr. Dirrim was a 50-year member of the Masonic lodge and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Hamilton. He was affiliated with the Hamilton Methodist church. Survivors besides his wife include one brother, Roy, near Angola and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Hinkle, Montpelier, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Swift Funeral Home in Hamilton with the Rev. Daniel Stone, pastor of the Hamilton Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in Hamilton cemetery.
