Dirrim and Christina Haughey Dirrim, was born in Wayne County, Ohio, May 5th, 1842 departed this life at his homestead in Rosebud County, Montana, May 22,1916, aged 74 years and 17 days. He was united in marriage with Amanda Firestone of DeKalb County, Ind., on May 7, 1864. To them were born nine children, one daughter Lettie having departed this life seventeen years ago at the age of 32 years. Eight children remain -- Meda, Charles O., and Carrie Hinkle, of Melstone, Mont., Roy of Detroit, Carrie Lautenheiser of Edon, Oh; Nora Stout, Ross Everett, and Fletcher of Hamilton. He leaves to mourn their loss 16 grandchildren, two brothers --Timothy H., and W.S. and two sisters, Caroline Hamond of Hicksville, Oh., and Mary Goudy of Hamilton as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He answered his country's call and was a member of Co. F, 44th Ind. Vols. Inf., serving 7 months. He was wounded at Shiloh from which wound he suffered the remainder of his life. He was an honored member of the G.A.R.at Hamilton, Ind. He was converted in early life at Bellefontaine chapel, joined the M.E. church at Hamilton, and has kept the faith, being faithful to God to his death. He was ready to go to meet his God, and receive final reward. He was a devoted father, a good neighbor, and a friend to all. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.R. Wyant, at the M.E. church, Hamilton, on Friday at 2 p.m., and the burial was in the Hamilton cemetery, participated in by the L. Griffith Post G.A.R.
