Mrs. Mansfield who was known fondly as "Flossie" by her many friends, came to Pateros with her husband, Joe, in 1906. They settled in the lower Methow valley to raise apples and farm. Her parents, the D. W. Sandersons, and family were also on a nearby place in the Methow. When they later moved into town, Mr. Mansfield worked at the Methow-Pateros Growers for many years, until his death in 1945. They had two daughters, Ruth, of Pateros, and Ruby of Cashmere, and three sons, Richard, in California, D. Charles in Tigard, Ore., and Rhesa of Okanogan. They had come here from a ranch in the Beg Bend country and had one little daughter buried at Bridgeport cemetery, where Mr. Mansfield was also buried. Pallbearers for Mrs. Mansfield were Lester Green, Blaine Madden, Charles Miller, George Neff, Kermit Stennes and M. D. Armstrong. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Copple furnished the music for the service. Mrs. Mansfield was a charter member of the Pateros Methodist Church, and was active in it all of her life. She worked very hard in the nursery and beginner's department of the Sunday School, and was the Cradle Roll superintendent for many years. All of her children were present for the service; Richard came from California to meet Charles in Oregon, and they traveled here together. None of her sisters were well enough to be bale to attend the service. They are Grace Haight, Spokane, Clara McKenzie, Idaho; Gladys Snyder, Seattle; Beatrice Ganzman, Walla Walla; and Sadie Dicus, Pateros. Her brother, Kenneth Sanderson and his wife, of Chelan, were present. A niece, Mrs. Barbara Jones, and her husband, from Spokane, were also there. Following the burial at the Bridgeport Cemetery, the ladies of the Methodist church and other friends, brought in a dinner to the family at the Mansfield home.
