He was born on December 31, 1905, in Snoqualmie. He was raised 1 1/2 miles from Pateros up the Methow Valley on the Methow River. The Sanderson homestead was destroyed by flood during the spring of 1949. Kenneth worked on the family's ranch as a youngster, later working on the steamboats of the Columbia River. The Sanderson homestead was destroyed by flood during the spring of 1949. Kenneth worked on the family's ranch as a youngster, later working on the steamboats of the Columbia River. He also worked as foreman during the construction of Grand Coulee Dam. In 1927, Kenneth married Helen Grantham from Okanogan and on July 9, 1931, a daughter, Doris, was born. Kenneth worked for the CCC program and also as a mechanic for Walker Logging Co., in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. In the spring of 1950 his first wife passed away and he moved back to Okanogan County and worked in the apple warehouses. During the years of 1953 and 1954 he worked for the US Forest Service in the summer time at Lucerne on Lake Chelan and at Holden Mine in the winter. In February of 1955 he married Eunice Holms and worked for the US Forest Service at the Twenty-Five Mile guard station on Lake Chelan. He operated the forester boart on Lake Chelan from 1955 until 1968 when he retired. In 1968 Kenneth built a home on the rocks above the guard station and lived there until he sold the home in 1971 and moved to Chelan. He and Eunice spent several winters at Quartzsite, Ariz., until her death in 1981 when he moved back to his hometown of Pateros. On Sept. 18, 1998, he married Norma Wilson and moved to Brewster for the remainder of his years. Kennthe is survived by his wife, Norma, at the home; a daughter, Doris E. Cougill and her husband Fred of Ryegate, Mont.; three grandchildren, Kamiah Goodwin and husband Clint of Northport, Wash., Winoma Jellico and husband Gary of Bainbridge Island and F. S. Cougill III and his wife Delores of Ryegate, Mont., and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Joyce Steele and stepson Chuck Wilson, both of Brewster; and stepson Don Wilson of Spokane; seven step-grandchildren, Terry, Gary and Diane Walker, Gloria Enquist, Sherry Carter, Randy and Karl Wlison. Kenneth was truly a pioneer of the Methow area and had many fond memories of growing up in the area as well as his much loved years on the lake. He played the violin all his life and he and Norma at the piano will be remembered for all the times they played music at teh Senior Center during their golden years. Services were conducted Monday, January 26, 1998 at 11 am from the Barnes Chapel, Brewster with Donn Plew, officiating. Private interment at Pateros Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Brewster Senior Center or a charity of your choice.
