She departed this life Thursday evening, June 8, 2006 at the Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her age was 77 years, eight months and ten days. Florence attended the Vining Creek Rural School District No. 5 just northeast of Bloomington in Franklin County, Nebaska through the fourth grade and the fifth grade through the ninth grade at Hayes Center, Nebraska. She finished high school at Alma where she graduated valedictorian of her class, the class of 1946. Following high school, Florence resided with her parents at Alma until her marriage. On October 5, 1947 Miss Florence Jones was united in marriage to Jack J. Davis at the Methodist Church in Alma, Nebraska. To this union two sons, Scott Allen and Rockford Jay were born. The Davis's farmed at Alma, moving to Archer, Nebraska in 1948. They moved to a farm near Bertrand, Nebraska in Gosper County in 1950. They moved across the road to their new home in Phelps County in 1974. Florence was employed as a bookkeeper and sales clerk at Junkin Implement at Bertrand from 1941 until 1960 and did tax work in her home and at the Bank of Bertrand. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bertrand, a "garden club" in Holdrege, Nebraska and a neighborhood extension club in Bertrand. Florence was preceded in death by her father on December 24, 1970 and her mother on March 15, 1978; one brother Lemuel Jones, Jr. and his wife Grace; two sisters, Frances Moulton and her husband John, and Lois Cain and her husband Leo; one brother-in-law, Ralph Phelps and one sister-in-law, Erica Jones. She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving and devoted husband Jack of their home at 10022 Road 734 at Bertrand; two sons, Scott Davis and his wife Renee also of Bertrand and Rock Davis and his wife Joanne of Holdrege; one brother Sadler Jones of Ulm, Germany; one sister Mary Lee Phelps of Hastings, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Scott's three children, Anthony "Tony" Davis and special friend Suzanne Vonderfecht of Kearney, Nebraska, Reggie Davis and his wife Shannon and their son Will of Kearney and Andrew Davis of Bertrand; Rocky's three children Adrienne Davis and her special friend Corey Atchison of Lincoln, Nebraska, Amy Davis and her special friend Ryan Morris of Kearney and Kevin Davis also of Kearney; two step grandchildren, Christina Wells and her husband Darby Keeney and their daughter Reagan Keeney of Lions, Colorado and Tom Wells of Tempe, Arizona; other relatives and a host of friends.
