Florence Idell Goodrich, daughter of Horace and Melvina Goodrich, was born in Tama County, Iowa, Oct. 3, 1869, being aged 72 years, 3 months and 11 days at the time of her death. When a small child she moved with her parents to a farm northwest of Hopkins, where she grew to womanhood. Early in life, she united with the Christian Church of Siam. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Order of New Market. On March 21, 1900 she was married to Charles Gant. To them seven children were born, four daughters and three sons. Two sons preceded her in death, Russell Gant on May 24, 1935, and an infant son, Feb. 25, 1901. She is survived by her husband, four daughters and one son: Mabel Carmichael, Mary Allison and Alma Bix of New Market; Ethel Gray and Orval Gant of Bedford. Also by thirteen grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Jefferies [Jeffers] of Hopkins. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, a kind neighbor and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
