Read More	Florence Lautenschlager, 83, Kenmare, ND, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Augusta Place (Good Samaritan Home) in Bismarck, ND. Florence Marie Bauer was born in Tolley, North Dakota to John and Mary (Zeltinger) Bauer on September 14, 1933. She grew up on the family farm and attended public school in Tolley, ND where she graduated a year early and Valedictorian of her class. She went on to attend Minot State Teachers College. She married Harley Deane Lautenschlager on November 3, 1950. She resided with her husband at Primrose Retirement Community, Bismarck, N.D. They spent their early months of marriage in Alabama; she worked in a local café while Deane served in the U.S. Army at Fort Rucker. Together with Deane, who was a grain buyer, she created family homes in Plaza, Calio, Ryder and Kenmare, North Dakota and Westby, Montana. Their latest winters were spent in Penitas, Texas her much loved winter home. Summer trips included long stays in the mountains of Montana. Her family knew her as Sis and her friends called her Flo. No one could stump her on current events and although she denied it was always the instigator of a good debate. An avid reader, you could always find Florence with a good book. She loved to cook, and prepared for big family gatherings as if it were no big deal. She especially loved her plants. She enjoyed sewing for her daughters as they grew up, crocheting, and getting her hands dirty in the flower gardens surrounding her home. Always generous with her time; she was a 4-H leader, member of the St Agnes Catholic Church women's alter society, and assisted the elderly at the Baptist Home of Kenmare. She even managed to give comfort to a farm animal or two that were in need of a warm kitchen. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the lights of her life; she held a special place for each one in her heart and never missed a chance to brag of each one's individual accomplishments. Florence is survived by her husband; five children Paulette (Cortland) Dailey, Bismarck, ND, Patricia (Tom) Manus, Aberdeen, SD, Paul (Christine) Lautenschlager, West Glacier, MT, Phebe (Ron) Applegate, MT, and Penny (Dale) Knutson, Minot, ND; son-in-law, Clay Petersen, Culbertson, MT; sister, Marcia Elsbernd, Hartford, WI; brothers-in-law, Hank (Arlene) Lautenschlager, Tioga, ND, Jerome (Pat) Lautenschlager, Stanley, ND, sisters-in-law, Sharon Lautenschlager, Columbus, ND, and Louise Bauer, Bismarck, ND; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Bauer; daughter, Pamela Petersen; grandson, Samuel Knutson; brother, Michael Bauer; brothers-in-law, Roger Elsbernd and Roger Lautenschlager; and sister in-law, Janet Lautenschlager.
