Read More	Florence Martin Hamrick Reaves May 26, 1921 - September 05, 2021 Gaffney, S.C. - Florence Martin Hamrick Reaves, 100, passed away on September 5, 2021. Born May 26, 1921, Mrs. Reaves was the daughter of the late Waite Carlisle Hamrick and Florence Martin Hamrick. She was a graduate of Arlington Hall in Washington, D.C. and attended the New York School of Interior Decoration. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Reaves Ross of Columbia, S.C. She was predeceased by her husband, John Shepard Reaves, her son, John Shepard Reaves, Jr., her sister, Mary Waite Hamrick McLeod and her brothers, Waite C. Hamrick, Jr., John M. Hamrick and Charles F. Hamrick. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gaffney since 1930 and was a Sunday School teacher and leader of the Young Women's Auxiliary Group. Mrs. Reaves was a charter member of the Gaffney Jr. Woman's Club, the Ladies Golf Association of the Gaffney Country Club and Cherokee National. She was also an American Red Cross volunteer at the Gaffney Hospital. A private graveside service will be held by the family. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church of Gaffney, 200 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C. 29340 or to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2087, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.
