Description	:	Floyd Alvin Killip Obit (1904 - 1978) Floyd Alvin Killip was born the 18th of November, 1904 the son of Robert T Killip and Gertrude Dainton Killip, at Kearney, Nebraska. Read More	Floyd Alvin Killip Obit (1904 - 1978) Floyd Alvin Killip was born the 18th of November, 1904 the son of Robert T Killip and Gertrude Dainton Killip, at Kearney, Nebraska. When he was four years old, the family moved to Beaver Crossing where the parents had previously lived. They lived on a farm north of Beaver then on another east of town and in 1911 they moved into the town itself. Seven years later they moved to a farm west of the town. He started to school in a rural, school Northeast of Beaver & transferred to the Beaver Crossing School when they moved here and completed, the 11th grade. After school he began to work as a heavy equipment operator with his father. Later he began to work for Peter Kiewit Co. of Omaha and with this company helped in the construction of many different kinds of projects in all parts of the country. This includes work on mountain roadways, airports, Dams and so on. In October, 1958 he was married to Pearl Dobberstein. They were parents of one daughter who died in infancy. After his marriage he established his own, construction company at Crofton, Nebraska, He continued with this until four years ago when age and health forced him to retire. At that time he and his wife moved to York, where they have lived since that tine. Floyd suffered a stroke as a fairly yourig man in his early thirties. From this he made complete recovery, but the stroke began to reoccur, several years ago and made it more difficult for him to do his work and to care for himself. They culminated in a series on December 24th, which resulted in his death. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Killip, and a stepson, Jack Dobbcrstein. Jack and his wife live in Lincoln. Also by a sister Mrs. Arthur Hoffschneider (Florence) of Seward, and by a brother, Truman Killip of Beaver Crossing. Also by a niece and two nephews.
