He was born July 26, 1913, in Ottumwa to Edward and Mary Tomlinson O'Dell. He had worked for John Morrell for 41 years prior to retiring in 1973. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Church of God and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Goldie L. Breckenridge on July 3, 1933, in Lancaster, Mo. He is survived by his wife; a son, Phil of Burbank, Calif.; and a sister, Ethel Robinson of Grand Island, Neb. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald E. in 1934. The service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, with Errett Boyer of Ottumwa officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services by the VFW. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today. The family will be at the funeral chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Steven, Gary, Glen and Johnie O'Dell, Larry Gruwell and Ron Rowe. A memorial has been established to First Church of God.
