A resident of the Burton community most of his life, he was born May 3, 1905, in Rochester township, the son of William and Phila KENNELL MATHIAS. His marriage was March 9, 1938, in Mishawaka, to Ethel M. MOON, who survives. He had worked for the highway department for the past three years. Prior to that he had been a farmer. Also surviving are a son, James I. [MATHIAS], at home; two brothers, Oren [MATHIAS], of Rochester, and Harry [MATHIAS], of Bowling Green, O. Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Foster & Good funeral home. The Rev. V. Leroy GARNER will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here.
