Floyd Raymond Monthei, son of Otto and Daisy May Hammer (ed.--Hammar) Monthei, was born March 21, 1906 on a farm in the Jefferson vicinity. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1926 and attended college at Des Moines University. He was united in marriage to Ruth Gibson on Oct. 2, 1931 and they established their first home together southeast of Cooper. To this union four children were born: (ed.-living) Mr. Monthei was a member of the Methodist church of Jefferson. Mr. Monthei died Aug. 20, 1964 at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his mother and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his four children, eight grandchildren, his father, one brother, Roy and one sister Mary Lindsey; as well as many other relatives and friends. -------------------------
