Ruth Irene, daughter of Earl and Emelie Augustus Gibson, was born February 18, 1911, in Greene County, Iowa. She was raised in the Scranton Community, where she attended and graduated from the Scranton High School in the class of 1929. After her graduation she went to Des Moines, where she attended A.I.B. On October 2, 1931, she was united in marriage to Floyd R, Monthei. The couple established their first home together southeast of C ooper. They were the parents of four children, Mr. Monthei preceded his wife in death in 1964, and Mrs. Monthei continued to make her home on the' farm southeast of Jefferson. Mrs. Monthei passed away at her home near Jefferson on November 16, 1966, at the age of 55 years, eight months and 28 days. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Jefferson. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother John, one sister Vivian and one grandson in infancy. She is survived by her children: (ed.-4 living); two brothers: Wayne Gibson of Scranton, and Charles W. Gibson of Paton, two daughters-in-law; one son-in-law; and nine grandchildren. -------------------------
