S. Killman, and one of the early settlers of Mills county, died at her home six miles north of Persia, Harrison county, Iowa, at 4 p. m., Nov. 7 1899; aged 66 years, 4 months, and 8 days. Mrs Killman , whose maiden name was Banton, was born the 4th day of July, 1833, in Pennsylvania. At the age of 4 years she went west with her parents to Ohio, and there to Michigan, where she resided until the year 1854, when they moved to Southwest Iowa. The deceased was a resident of Mills county for twenty-six years. She was the mother of six children, three sons and three daughters, all of whom are left to morn her loss. They are: Mrs. Anna Northrop, Mr. Van Killman, Mrs. Lillie Evans, Mr. Frank Killman, Mr. F. S. Killman, Mrs. Maggie Deupree, all of who resides in Harrison county except Mrs. Northrop. who resides in Humboldt county, Iowa and Mr F. S. Killmam, who resides in Mills county. The deceased was a Christian all her life, and will be remembered by all who knew her as a true and loving mother and kind neighbor. The text from which the funeral sermon was preached was taken from the fortieth palm by her paster. She was laid to rest in the Chatman cemetery, followed by a large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors. She was a sufferer for three years with that dread disease, consumption, but she was patient up to the last believing that she would receive her reward in the other world.
