Killmon received word the past week that his brother William Killmon of Persia, Ia., had suffered a paralytic stroke on New Year's eve. Later word came that he had passed away January 3. Mr. and Mrs. Killmon and son Walter left immediately for Persia and remained for the services held from the family home Sunday. The following life history has been furnished us: William Killmon, son of Thomas and Frances Killmon was born at Glenwood, Ia., April 26, 1859, and departed this life January 3, 1924, near Persia, Ia., on the farm home which he established when quite a young man. He was united in marriage with Mrs. Edith Wentsworth of Persia, September 11, 1901. He is survived by his wife and two step-children, Mrs. Emma Howard of Persia, James Wentsworth of Missouri Valley, also two adopted children William and Nellie Killmon of Walkerville, Michigan, besides three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Lillie Evans and Frank Killmon of Persia, Mrs. Anna Northop, Hugo, Colo., Mrs. Maggie Deupree, Neligh, Nebr., and F. S. Killmon, Glenwood, Iowa. In the last twenty years he has taken into his home and cared for eight orphan children. He was ever kind husband and neighbor and leaves a host of friends to mourn his departure. Services were conducted from the home Sunday, Jan. 6, by Rev. Adams of Logan, Iowa. The I. O. O. F. lodge of which he had been a member for thirty-one years had charge of the services at the grave. Interment was made in Valley View cemetery near Persia. Logan IA paper 10 Jan 1924, p-6 PERSIA Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Killman and son, Walter of Glenwood, who were called to Persia to attend the funeral of his brother, Wm. Killman, returned to their home Monday afternoon. The funeral of Wm. Killmon who died last Thursday morning following a stroke of apoplexy, was held from the home Sunday, January 6th, Rev. Adams of Logan, having charge of the services. Deceased was born April 25, 1859, at Glenwood, Iowa, and died January 3rd, 1924, at his home near Persia. A sorrowing wife, two adopted children, Willie and Nellie Killman of Walkerville, Mich., two step-children, James Wentworth of Mo. Valley, Mrs. Emma Howard, at home, two brothers and three sisters and a large number of friends are left to grieve. Persia I. O. O. F. lodge of which he was a member, was in charge of the services at the grave. The remains were laid to rest in beautiful Valley View cemetery to await the coming of his loved ones.
