Description	:	Frances (Cathcart) Weathers passed away at her home in the Wattsville community Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Born on Lewis Street in Enoree, SC, she was the widow of the late Matthew Evans Weathers, Sr., and was the daughter of the late John F. and Hattie Belle (Craig) Cathcart. Read More	Frances (Cathcart) Weathers passed away at her home in the Wattsville community Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Born on Lewis Street in Enoree, SC, she was the widow of the late Matthew Evans Weathers, Sr., and was the daughter of the late John F. and Hattie Belle (Craig) Cathcart. Mrs. Weathers was a 1942 graduate of Ford High School in Wattsville and was retired from Laurens Glass, and was a member of Lucas Avenue Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Laurens District Chapter of the South Carolina Genealogy Society, having served in several positions, including Vice President at one time. Frances was a very witty person and had many talents. She always had a love of flowers and gardening, as did her mother. She loved to crochet, sew, read and travel. Later in life, she discovered genealogy which led to many great adventures. She was a great cook who loved the compliments it brought. She never learned to drive, but probably logged more miles than most folks as she was always ready to take a ride whenever one was offered. She is survived by: her children, Donald Franklin Myers and wife Pat, David Francis Weathers and wife Joyce, and John Daniel Weathers and wife Ethel, Ida Kathryn Weathers, Matthew Evans Weathers, Jr. all of Laurens; grandchildren, Annette Myers Pennington, Leigh Myers Llewellyn, David Francis Weathers, Jr., Amy Weathers Lyda, Emily Weathers Goralczyk, Tony Weathers, and John William (Will) Weathers; 13 great grandchildren, and her faithful canine companion, Lila. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a younger brother, Belton F. Cathcart; a sister, Ruth Cathcart Dillard who she lovingly called "Sister" and a granddaughter, Cristie Lynn Weathers who passed in November of 2012. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 10, 2014, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Tommy Bailey with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. At her service, The BattleAxe Band played several of her favorite hymns, beautifully performed in Bluegrass style, which was a sound that Frances truly enjoyed hearing in life. The family received friends at The Kennedy Mortuary on Thursday, October 9, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorials could be made to Amedisys Hospice, 250 Commonwealth Dr., Ste. 105, Greenville, SC 29615, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 301 University Ridge, Ste. 5000, Greenville, SC 29601. The Kennedy Mortuary, Inc. of Laurens, SC was in charge. Obituaries & notifications were published in The Spartanburg Herald-Journal from Oct. 9 to Oct. 10, 2014, GoLaurens.com, The Greenville News and in The Laurens County Advertiser.
