Headley, 20 Jun 2013 from various sources Francis Dillon Kimble was born in Licking County, Ohio [NW of Newark near Chatham] 14 Dec 1870, and is a son of George Morgan & Amelia (Carmichael) Kimble the former of whom was born in Licking Co., Oh 23 Apr 1846 and the latter of whom was born near Newark, that state, her death having occurred in Osage Co., Kansas, 23 Feb 1882. Of the children of this union the eldest Metta, wife of Albert Fairchild of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; F. Dillon , of this review, is the next younger; Mary is the wife of Otis McMoran, of Mount Vernon, state of Washington; Ralph is the resident of Simla, Colorado, as is also David, youngest of the children. George Morgan Kimble married 2nd time to Hannah P. Garigues on 1 Jan 1883 and had 11 children - most in or near Mulvane, Kansas. George Morgan Kimble came with his family to Overbrook, Osage Co., Ks, in 1880 & there he became a pioneer farmer. From the open prairie he reclaimed and developed a productive farm, and there he remained until the spring of 1903, when he came to Osborne County, Kansas and purchased a farm in Bethany Township. He served here two terms as township trustee and thereafter he held for two terms the office of Osborne County Treasurer, a position that he retained four years. After selling his farm in Osborne Co., he was for a time engaged in farming in Sumner County, Ks, and after disposing of this property he engaged in the general mercantile business at Mulvane, Ks where he continued this enterprise, as senior member of the firm of G. M. Kimble & Son. F. Dillon Kimble was a lad of 9 years when he came with his parents to Kansas, he early became associated with the work of the pioneer Kansas farm, and in the meanwhile he attended the pioneer schools of Osage County, Ks. near Overbrook and Carbondale. F. Dillon Kimble married Miss Lillie Anne Fink on 11 May 1898 in the home of her parents 6 miles NW of Downs. Lillie was born 27 Jul 1875 to John Fredrick & Christine Catherine "Kate" (Blankenhorn) Fink. Following their marriage they rented a farm for two years north of Glen Elder, but in Jewell County and then purchased his present fine home farm in Section 23, Twp 6, Range 12 in Osborne County, Ks. four and one half miles NW of Downs where he established his residence in 1905. He is the owner also of another quarter section near Downs, and he has been notably succedssful in his activities as a grower and shipper of cattle and hogs. He has given about ten years of service as treasurer of his Green Ridge Rural School District located abouot one mile north of the Kimble farm. F. Dillon Kimble and wife Lillie retired and moved to fine house in Downs about Feb 1946 and Dillon died five months after moving to town on Tuesday, 23 Jul 1946 at the age of 75y, he is buried in the Downs Cemetery, Downs, Osborne Co., Kansas Dillon and Lillie Kimble, lost their first child, Vada Minerva, b. 26 Apr 1901 and died Jan 1902 of Scarlet Fever and is buried at Betheny Center Cemetery; Mary Ethel, b. 21 Oct 1903 m. 10 Jun 1923 to Clifford W. Headley; Letha May, b. 9 Oct 1908 and was a popular teacher in Osborne Co, m. 3 Jun 1937 to Arthur Getty; Olin Cecil, b. 14 Oct 1910, m. 12 May 1940 to Margaret Evon Kuiken; Bernice Orvetta, b. 8 Nov 1912, m. 12 May 1935 to George Megli; Rachel Lucile, b. 26 Apr 1916, m. 20 Mar 1940 to Daniel Martin Vander Giesen.
