OBITUARY: Francis Strotman Francis Edward Strotman, the son of Edward, Sr., and Letha (Apple) Strotman, was born near St. Edward, Nebraska, in Boone County, on February 23, 1918, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on February 9, 1994, at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 16 days. In 1922, he moved with his family to Aurora, where he attended school, and then helped his father on the farm. He served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force, from January 13, 1943, until his discharge on October 28, 1945, and then returned to the farm with his father and brother, until 1959, when he moved into Aurora and operated his own trucking business, until 1965, when he moved to Troy, Michigan and drove for Roadway Trucking, until 1973, when he returned to Aurora and his health began to fail. From 1977 to 1980, he operated the Marquette Bar, then he moved to Texas and in 1981, returned to Aurora. Following a stroke in 1986, he entered the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, in 1987. On August 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Van Housen, at Smith Center, Kansas. Francis was a member of the Catholic Church, and also belonged to the V.F.W. and the Hampton American Legion. He enjoyed remote controlled airplanes, which he built and flew, and also was a fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those who remain to cherish his memory, are his wife Eleanor of Central City; 2 sons, Tony of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Tom of Moore, Oklahoma; 2 brothers, James of Omaha, and Edward, Jr., of Goodells, Michigan; 2 sisters, Evelyn Wright of Waterford, Michigan, and Ruby Ingram of Omaha; and 2 grandsons, Beau and Tom, Jr.
