Description	:	Frank was the sixth child and youngest son of Margaret and James Carey and nephew of TJ McNevin and grandson of Patrick McNevin. He was born at home, 213 Charles St. it was a midwife delivery - her name was Mrs. Anna Reimers - per Birth Certificate. He moved to Montana with his family in 1916 where he met and married Elizabeth Laux in February 27 1919, St. Leo Catholic Church, Lewistown, MT. They had three children: Elizabeth Marion (1920-) Margaret Catherine (1922-2003) and Francis Philipp (1925-1985.) They settled in Long Beach in 1936 and he established a business as an Certified Public Accountant for many years. They were Nana and Boppa to their grandchildren. From a typewritten sheet as in preparation for a resume, by Frank R. Carey himself: "As suggested in our recent conversation I am submitting, for your information, an outline of my history and experience. I am 39 years of age, married and have three children. I was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, attended McKinley Grammar School, Central High School and the Saint Paul Business College. Was employed for two years in the Saint Paul Office of the Pennsylvania Railroad Co. attaining the position of Rate Clerk from which I resigned to accompany my parents in a move to Lewistown, MT where I secured employment in the Empire Bank and Trust Co., attaining the position of Paying and Receiving Teller. After two years in the bank I accepted a position of accountant with the Lewistown Oil and Refining Co. in Lewistown, MT, which paid better money and offered greater promise of advancement. The Lewistown Oil and Refining Co., a new concern, was financed by Frank P. Book and Associates of Detroit, MI. The company built a refinery of 500 barrels capacity and increased its capacity from time to time to a daily thruput of approximately 1500 barrels. The company accquired landholdings and drilled a number of wells which were productive in the Cat Creek Field. In addition to the company's production the refinery operated on purchased crude, entailling contracts, pipe line operations, tank car movements etc. Within a short time after joining the company I was made assistant Secretary and Treasurer with full charge of all Accounting, Purchasing and management of the business in the absence of the General Manager. The business was highly successful and the company after operating as a producer and refiner for about six years, sold all its interests to one of the major oil companies. The principals then opened operations in Calgary, Alberta, Canada transfering me to that city. A refinery was constructed to operate on Turner Valley Naphtha, a pipe line constructed and service stations erected in the principle cities of Alberta. Bulk plants were built at 60 locations and after seven years of operation the company sold all of its interests to the Imperial Oil Company of Canada. I served the Canadian Company as Secretary and Treasurer and assistant to the Manager. I was in full charge of all accounts and as office manager employed a staff of 35 people. My experience has made me familiar with Leases, Drilling Operations, Production, Pipe Line and Tank Car operations, Refining, Market Price Structures, Royalities and business administration. I have resided in Long Beach for the past year having moved here at the suggestion of my people, who have resided in Long Beach since 1921. Have been engaged in Public Accounting in the employ of A.C. Anderson of Long Beach." (1937) March 17, 1962 - Letter to John T. Blake family "Dear Marg and Family, I love you all. Sorry I don't take time to answer all the notes I've (been) receiving, but I'm too busy doing nothing. Enclosed is a clipping. I don't know how I made the local paper. Snow about 5ft deep and more coming. Can't see my car (5 days). Have a nice warm apartment in Crestline. Mikey and Frank phoned me this last week and everyone is healthy and happy. He enjoyed being there but his battle with alcohol continued during those years. He died at the Long Beach Convalescent Hospital May 24, 1965. He had lived there during the last couple of years of his life.
