Description	:	Francis Jerome Schmitz, 92, died on January 19, 2018 in College Station, Texas. He was born on April 27, 1925, the son of Theodore and Matilda (Biggs) Schmitz in Schulte, Kansas. He graduated from Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, KS in 1942. Francis then enlisted in the United States Navy on his 18th birthday in 1943. He was honorably discharged from service on March 25, 1945. On May 18, 1949 he married Delphine M. Jacobs at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Waterloo, KS. He was born on April 27, 1925, the son of Theodore and Matilda (Biggs) Schmitz in Schulte, Kansas. He graduated from Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, KS in 1942. Francis then enlisted in the United States Navy on his 18th birthday in 1943. He was honorably discharged from service on March 25, 1945. On May 18, 1949 he married Delphine M. Jacobs at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Waterloo, KS. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2007. Together they lived and farmed at Leoti, KS for 43 years. When they retired in 1993, they moved to Hutchinson. Then in 2006 they relocated to College Station, TX. They were lifelong Catholics and Francis was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station, TX. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Delphine; an infant son, Alfred Jerome, his parents; two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jane (Randy) Dickinson, Moses Lake, WA; three sons, David (Rose) of College Station, TX, Marvin (Pam) of Ainsworth, NE and Eugene (Margaret) of Warsaw, MO; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Jan.22nd, 2018 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel from 2:00-6:00 p.m. with the family greeting guests from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on the same day, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Waterloo Cemetery, Murdock, KS on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Brazos Valley, The Wounded Warriors or Donor’s Choice, all in care of the funeral chapel at 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
