It appears he first served aboard the USS Stanley (DD-478), a Fletcher-class destroyer, beginning around 31 Dec 1942 until around Sep 1944 as a Seaman 2nd Class. By Dec 1944, he may have served on the hospital ship USS Samaritan (AH-10). However, by May 1945 he was aboard the USS Satyr (ARL-23), an Achelous-class landing craft repair ship.
