Description	:	Francis Marion Dirrim, a resident of Villisca and nearby vicinity, sixty-five years, died Sunday morning at his home in Villisca, his death following a stroke of paralysis, which he suffered on the preceding Monday. He was born August 16, 1851 in Ashland County, Ohio and was 85 years old at his death, He came to Page County, Iowa in 1871 and settled on a farm nine miles southwest of Villisca. He was born August 16, 1851 in Ashland County, Ohio and was 85 years old at his death, He came to Page County, Iowa in 1871 and settled on a farm nine miles southwest of Villisca. He was married February 11, 1875 to Martha Metcalf of Ashland County, Ohio and to them were born three sons, Ray of Chicago, Bert and Guy of Villisca. In 1899, Mr. and Mrs. Dirrim moved to Villisca where they lived the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Dirrim died here March 23, 1915. Mr. Dirrim was married December 14, 1916 to Mabel McMullen of Villisca, who with his three sons and one granddaughter, Florence Dirrim of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, survives him. A land owner in Page County, Mr. Dirrim was engaged in farming and stock raising there for many years and for nearly forty years he was interested in banking business in Villisca. He was one of the organizers of the Farmers Bank here in 1895, in which he served as vice president then years and when it was reorganized as the Villisca National Bank, he served as vice president of that institution until twenty years ago when he was made president. He was also the vice president of the Bank of Morton Mills of which he was one of the organizers. Mr. Dirrim united with the Methodist Church in his early life. His body was taken Sunday to the Eno & Sutphen Funeral Chapel where it remained until Tuesday when it was returned to the Dirrim home to await the funeral services which were held that day at 2:30 in the Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. F. W. Clayburg. The singing was by Mrs. Albert F. Davie, Mrs. Harry Tyler, Roy B. Means, and H. C. Lindell, accompanied by Mrs. J. L. Wheeler at the organ and the pall bearers were H. W. Heath, P. H. Peterson, A. F. Davie, J. P. Taylor, C. M. Orr, and Louis Enarson, Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Villisca Review, Friday, November 27, 1936, page 4
