Read More	DEATH CALLS FRANCIS CARDER The News is called upon this week to chronicle the death of Francis Carder, one of the old and respected citizens of this city. His passing occurred on Friday morning at 7:00 o'clock at his home. He had been in ill health for some time, but his condition did not become critical until the last week. Francis Marion Carder was born January 1st, 1854, in Indiana and died at his home in Creighton, Nebraska, on August 3, 1934, at the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 3 days. When a small child he moved with his parents to Clark County, Iowa. On the 22nd day of August, 1877, he was married to Bina Woodward. In 1878 they moved to Butler County, Nebraska, and then to Knox County in 1889, where they lived on a farm northeast of Creighton. It was here in February, 1916, that his wife died. He was married again to Lillian Simpson [sic, Siemsen*] May [12], 1917, and in October of that year they moved to Creighton, where he made his home until the time of his death. Two children, Francis and Dorothy, preceded him in death, dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Bertha L. Jones of Central City, Nebr., and Mrs. Beulah E. Witwer of Creighton and one son, Calvin, of Creighton, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Condreary and Mrs. Dasha Condreary, both of St. Edward, Nebr., and one brother, Frank of Creighton, besides a host of relatives and friends. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Mrs. Lucile Burt, Norfolk; Mrs. Marie Meikle, Wendell, Eilene and Ruth Witwer, all of Creighton; and two great-grandchildren, Jeannine Burt and Wm. Meikle, Jr. The deceased was a man who braved the many trying experiences of early times and who by his own efforts attained a position of esteem and respect. His life and dealings speak true words for him. Mr. Carder was one of the pioneer settlers of this community, a man of sterling character and uprightness, ever ready to help a friend or neighbor in time of trouble or need. His passing fills the community with a sense of loss and sorrow. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and 2:00 from the Methodist church in charge of Rev. R.B.E. Hill. A large concourse of friends and relatives gathered to pay their last tribute to the deceased. The remains were laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family in this, their hour of grief.
