At 2:15 o'clock Friday morning, Feb. 29, death came to Frank Ege, Sr., resident of Butler county, near David City, for 40 years, after illness of two weeks due to his age. He was in his 83d year, having attained the age of 82 years on February 12. Born in Vartenberg, Germany, on February 12, 1842, he came to America with his parents when 15 years of age, they locating at Iowa City, Iowa. There he was married in 1870 to Caroline Litty. After their marriage they lived near Falls City, Neb., until 1884, then coming to the present Ege home at the southeast corner of David City. They lived there until 1910, when they moved to Spalding. Mrs. Ege died in Spalding in 1912, and after her death Mr. Ege returned to the home in David City to live with his children. Surviving Mr. Ege are two daughters and two sons, Miss Mary Ege of Spalding and Miss Anna Ege, Fred Ege and Frank Ege, Jr., of David City. One son, Joe, died in infancy. A sister, Mrs. Rose Litty, of Omaha, is the only surviving member of the family. Miss Mary Ege, of Spalding, had been with her father for two weeks preceding his death and remained for the funeral. Others coming from away to attend the funeral were Mrs. Rose Litty of Omaha and Thomas O'Connell and Charles Neumann of Spalding. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic church, of which Mr. Ege was a member. Solemn Requiem High Mas was said by Rev. Bernard Sproll. The pallbearers were Herman Ficke, John Hain, Mike Meysenburg, Peter Mysenburg, Albert Peters and Peter Vanderheiden.
